In brief
July 2026 revolved around price pressure and agent governance. Anthropic rolled out Claude Opus 5 on all platforms for 5 dollars input and 25 dollars output per million tokens, performance close to Fable 5 at roughly half the price, also available in GitHub Copilot. Nous Research raised 75 million dollars for the Hermes agent at a valuation of 1.5 billion. At the same time the debate about agent management escalated: OpenAI's CEO spoke with US senators about an agent incident that had got out of hand, and HITEC 2026 named Agent Management Platforms as a new category.
